Why Personal Touch and Traditional Craftsmanship Still Matter

As the year comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on everything that’s changed in our industry and what lies ahead. After over 30 years in this business, I’ve seen how much things have evolved — especially with the rapid growth of digital technology. But one thing I know for sure is that the personal touch and quality craftsmanship we provide here at my lab will always be at the heart of what we do.

Today, digital tools like intraoral scanners, CAD/CAM, and 3D printing are changing the way we make restorations. And while I’m excited about all the ways these technologies can make our work faster and more precise, I also know that it can be tough to find technicians who still have the skill and artistry to craft restorations by hand — the traditional way. That’s what makes us different. We’ve been around long enough to combine the best of both worlds. We use the latest digital tools, but we also have the experience and the “eye” for making sure restorations are perfect, just like we always have.

What I love most about being a smaller, independent lab is the ability to really connect with our doctors and their teams. I’m not just a faceless service provider. I make the time to sit down with doctors to plan cases, help with chairside support when needed, and meet with patients for shade matching — whether they come to my lab or I visit them at their practice. I’m here to give that extra bit of attention to detail that bigger labs can’t offer. Every case gets my full focus, and I’m always just a phone call away to answer questions or offer advice.

This personal touch is what sets us apart. I’ve always believed that great dentistry is about more than just having the right tools — it’s about building strong, trusting relationships with the people we work with. In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle, but I’ll never lose sight of what matters: taking the time to listen, plan, and get things right for every patient.

Even though the industry is changing quickly, I believe the heart of good dental work is still in the details — the ones that come from years of experience and the hands-on approach that we’ve always embraced. As we move into 2025, we’ll keep up with new technologies and trends, but we’ll also hold on to what makes us who we are — a lab that knows how to combine traditional craftsmanship with the tools of today, all while giving our doctors the personal service that they can’t get anywhere else.
