How Darrell and His Doctors are Making a Difference

As 2023 has come to an end and as we start a new year, we continue to always find ways to improve our craft and to make our doctors’ experiences with Berkeley Dental Laboratory as seamless as possible. We are excited to announce the launch of this redesigned very first edition of our monthly newsletter and our newly revitalized website.

Hi, I’m Darrell, the owner here at Berkeley Dental Laboratory. When I was a kid in the early 80’s, I would work at my parents’ general store that they owned for over 30 years in Richmond, California. I have five siblings and we all helped out at the store.

My parents instilled in us, the valuable lessons of respect and helping. They taught us to acknowledge and help every customer in any way possible. Watching the way they greeted each customer when they walked through the doors and how engaged and happy every customer was with my dad and mom as they worked the register, sparked my ambitions to own a business of my own.

After high school, I got accepted into the dental technology program and during my last year got hired at Berkeley Dental Laboratory. I started doing the model work and the daily pickup and deliveries. While visiting all our dental offices, I used the lessons I learned from working at my parents’ store and built relationships with our doctors and their teams. I was able to provide extra value to our customers by customizing the service we provided for each individual doctors’ office, based on their specific needs and preferences.

What makes working at Berkeley Dental Laboratory so special, is that I get the chance to collaborate closely with our doctors and patients. Together, we plan cases chairside, ensuring that every detail is meticulously considered. It's a rewarding process, knowing that we are making a difference in the lives of our patients. Witnessing the joy and happiness on the faces of our doctors and patients is an indescribable feeling.

My career has been over 30 years of incredible adventure. From a humble 20- year-old technician eager to learn all I could in the dental lab, to now being the proud owner of Berkeley Dental Laboratory.

Today, I live in San Ramon and have a family of my own of six. I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to serve my second family — my work family. I get to help make our doctors and patients HAPPY and to put a smile on their faces every day!
